Veneers in Turkey, porcelain, e.max or a full Hollywood Smile

Veneers are thin shells bonded to your front teeth to change their colour, shape or length — porcelain, e.max or composite, depending on your case. They do not replace a tooth or correct a bite, which still need a crown or orthodontics. At JFS Clinic in Izmir, your Hollywood Smile package of 20 zirconium crowns starts from £2,900.

Am I a candidate?

Who is a good candidate for veneers?

Veneers suit front teeth that are healthy underneath but stained from inside, chipped, gapped or worn uneven, usually the 6 to 10 upper teeth that show when you smile. Your dentist decides from your photos first, then confirms on Day 2 in Izmir by checking your gums, your bite and any old fillings or crowns. Whitening cannot close a gap or lengthen a worn edge; a veneer can.

Discoloured or uneven teeth, why whitening alone isn't enough

Whitening works by lifting stains out of the enamel you already have, which is why it reaches its limit on teeth that are discoloured from the inside — after root canal treatment or tetracycline staining in childhood — and does nothing at all for a chipped edge, a gap between the front teeth or enamel that has worn thin and uneven. A veneer sits over the front of the tooth instead of trying to change what is underneath, which is why it can correct shape, length and colour together in a way whitening alone cannot. Teeth that are structurally sound but cosmetically uneven are the clearest fit; teeth that are heavily broken down, badly positioned or carry a failing old crown usually need a crown or orthodontics first, which your dentist checks at your consultation.

Signs veneers may suit you

  • Discolouration that whitening hasn't fully corrected, or staining from the inside of the tooth rather than the surface.
  • Chipped, worn or slightly uneven front teeth that are otherwise healthy, with no large fillings or deep decay.
  • Small gaps or mild crowding you would like closed without full orthodontic treatment.
  • You want several front teeth to look more uniform in colour and shape, rather than treating one tooth alone.
  • You have healthy gums with no active, untreated gum disease — this is usually treated first if present.

What to discuss at your veneer consultation

  • Whether veneers or crowns fit your teeth better, and whether porcelain, e.max or composite suits your budget and goals.
  • How many teeth you want treated, and whether a full Hollywood Smile or a smaller number of veneers makes more sense.
  • The exact shade and shape you want, agreed before any preparation starts.
  • Whether you grind your teeth at night, since this affects material choice and whether a night guard is recommended afterwards.
  • Your full dental history, including any previous crowns, veneers or root canal treatment on the teeth involved.

This is general guidance, not a diagnosis. Your dentist makes the final decision after seeing your teeth and dental history.

Not every veneer is the same

Types of veneers, porcelain, composite and zirconium crowns

Three options are used at JFS Clinic. Porcelain or e.max veneers are thin lab-made shells bonded to the front of the tooth after a thin layer of enamel is removed. Composite veneers are built up by hand on the tooth in a single appointment. Zirconium crowns cover the whole tooth and make up the 20-crown Hollywood Smile package. Your dentist chooses tooth by tooth, from how much each one needs to change.

  1. 1Thin layer of enamel reduced
  2. 2Nerve and inner tooth left untouched
  3. 3Custom porcelain shell made in the lab
  4. 4Shell bonded to the front of the tooth

How a veneer or crown is built up

Composite veneersA small chip, gap or shade change on one or two teeth, on a smaller budgetMinimal, often none5–7 years
Porcelain / e.max veneersMost requestedA noticeable but natural-looking change across several front teethThin layer of enamel reduced10–15 years

Ultra-thin veneersA subtle change with little to no tooth preparationMinimal to noneSimilar to standard porcelain, case dependent

Which material and how much tooth is prepared always depend on your teeth and goals — your dentist agrees the exact plan with you before anything is touched.

Porcelain veneers vs zirconium crowns, how your dentist decides

The choice is not about which package sounds bigger, it is about how much of each tooth is already healthy. At your consultation, your dentist looks at the colour and condition of your natural enamel, how many teeth you want changed, and whether any of them already carry large fillings, old crowns or root canal treatment. A smaller number of structurally sound teeth, needing a shade or shape change, usually points toward porcelain or e.max veneers. A full arch where several teeth are worn, heavily filled or already crowned, or where you want every visible tooth to match exactly, is what the Hollywood Smile zirconium crown package is built for.

Composite veneers are often suggested as a lower-cost or same-day option — built up directly on the tooth in the same visit, without a lab-made shell — which is why they suit a single chipped tooth more than a full smile change. How much enamel needs removing elsewhere is judged tooth by tooth: a thin, even layer removed from a structurally sound tooth keeps a porcelain veneer option open, while teeth that are already thin or heavily restored move the plan toward a full crown instead.

When previous dental work needs correcting

Turkey teeth gone wrong, what usually causes it and how it's reviewed

"Turkey teeth gone wrong" usually means one of four problems: teeth filed down more than the case needed, bulky or opaque crowns at the gum line, a shade that does not match, or margins that irritate the gum. JFS Clinic reviews cases from patients treated elsewhere from three things sent before any booking, your current X-rays, photos of your bite and your previous treatment notes, and your dentist then says whether replacement is realistic.

None of this is inherent to having dental work done in Turkey — it is the result of a rushed plan, a shade and shape not agreed in advance, or a dentist working on more teeth in less time than the case called for.

If you already have crowns or veneers you are unhappy with, your dentist reviews your dental history, your current X-rays and clear photos of your bite before suggesting anything. In some cases, badly fitted crowns can be removed and replaced without further damage to the tooth underneath; in others, how much natural tooth remains limits what can safely be redone, and your dentist tells you honestly where that limit is rather than promising a fix that isn't realistic.

What a correction consultation checks

  • How much of your natural tooth structure remains under the existing crown or veneer.
  • Whether your gums are healthy, or inflamed from a poor-fitting margin that needs treating first.
  • How your bite closes, since a mismatched crown height can affect teeth you did not realise were involved.
  • Your existing dental records, X-rays and the material used previously, where available.

Results vary from patient to patient. Your dentist will tell you what is realistic for your teeth at the consultation.

What can delay your veneer treatment date

Being able to travel within a week does not mean every case should go straight to preparation. A few things decide your safest plan, and your dentist checks each of them before any tooth is touched. If your scan or the Day 2 consultation shows an issue that needs treating first, the plan changes. Your dental health comes before the timeline.

What can move your treatment date
FactorWhy it mattersWhat usually happens
Active gum diseasePlacing a crown or veneer margin against inflamed gum lowers how well it fits and lastsGum treatment comes first, then the plan is reassessed
Untreated tooth decayDecay under a new veneer or crown can keep spreading unseenDecay is treated before any cosmetic work is planned
Teeth grinding (bruxism)Heavy grinding can chip or loosen veneers faster than normalA night guard is usually recommended alongside the treatment
Previous Turkey teeth or crowns to correctYour dentist needs your existing records and photos to plan safelyA review consultation is booked before any new work is confirmed
PregnancyElective dental work and some imaging are often postponed as a precautionMost dentists prefer to wait until after the pregnancy

If you live in the UK, the NHS rarely funds veneers, because they are usually considered a cosmetic choice, so most people compare private clinics at home and abroad. Wherever you go, ask three things before you book: who is actually preparing your teeth, what material is being used and why, and who you contact if something needs checking once you are home.

This package is a full-mouth Hollywood Smile built from 20 zirconium crowns, not thin porcelain veneers — it suits a complete smile makeover rather than a change to a few teeth. If you want veneers on fewer teeth instead, or specifically e.max or composite veneers, your dentist quotes this personally as a Personal quote after reviewing your photos; what changes the price is the number of teeth treated and the material chosen. Your final price is confirmed once your dentist has seen your teeth in person on Day 2.

The treatment

How veneers are done, step by step

Veneer or Hollywood Smile treatment at JFS Clinic takes two main clinic appointments three days apart. On Day 2 the shade and shape are agreed, a digital scan is taken, your teeth are prepared under local anaesthetic and temporaries are fitted. Days 3 and 4 are lab days. On Day 5 the final veneers or crowns are bonded and your bite is adjusted, with a short check on Day 6 before you fly.

Treatment starts before any tooth is touched. Your dentist and the lab technician agree the exact shade, shape and length with you, usually against a shade guide held next to your own teeth in natural light, so the result still looks like your smile rather than a generic one. For a full Hollywood Smile, this also means deciding how the 20 crowns will line up across your upper and lower arch so your bite closes evenly.

Once the plan is agreed, your teeth are numbed with local anaesthetic and gently prepared. For porcelain or e.max veneers, this means removing a thin layer of enamel from the front surface only; for zirconium crowns, more of the tooth is shaped down on all sides so the crown can fit over it like a cap. Composite veneers often skip this step entirely and are built up directly on the tooth instead.

Inside the treatment

Veneers and crowns fitted in four steps
  1. 1Shade and shape agreedMatched against your own teeth, in natural light.
  2. 2Teeth gently preparedMinimal enamel removed, under local anaesthetic.
  3. 3Scan taken, temporary teeth fittedDigital impression sent to the lab the same day.
  4. 4Final veneers or crowns bondedChecked, bite-adjusted and polished in place.

How a veneer or crown is fitted

A digital scan of your prepared teeth is taken and sent to the lab, which is how your final veneers or crowns are shaped to fit your mouth precisely rather than a generic tooth size. While the lab work is being made, temporary veneers or crowns are fitted the same day, so you are never left with visibly reduced teeth during your stay. These temporaries also give you and your dentist a chance to check the length and shape still feel right before the final version is made.

When your final veneers or zirconium crowns are ready, the temporaries are removed and each one is tried in individually, checking the fit, the shade against your own teeth and how your bite closes with the others in place. Any small adjustment to the edge or surface is made at this stage, before the pieces are bonded or cemented in place, tooth by tooth, using a dental adhesive designed for the material chosen.

Once everything is bonded, your dentist checks your bite again with articulating paper, trimming any high spot so your teeth meet evenly when you close and chew. The margins — where the veneer or crown meets your natural gum line — are polished smooth so they don't trap plaque or irritate the gum. This final check is also when a night guard is discussed if you grind your teeth, since that habit is the main thing that shortens how long a veneer or crown lasts.

Local anaesthetic keeps the area numb throughout, so what you feel is pressure rather than pain. A single tooth's preparation typically takes well under an hour; a full Hollywood Smile of 20 crowns takes longer, which is why it is split across the preparation and fitting visits rather than done in one sitting.

Settling in, week by week

Veneers settling in, week by week

Numbness from the local anaesthetic wears off within a few hours of fitting, and mild sensitivity to cold is common for the first few days. Over the first two weeks the gums settle around each margin; by around week four most people no longer notice the new teeth when eating. Move the slider to any point after fitting to see how most people feel, what they can do and what to avoid.

How long do veneers last
The first days after fitting, while numbness fades and your bite settles.

Settling in after veneers or crowns happens over a much shorter timeline than surgery, since nothing is healing beneath the skin — the main adjustment is your gums, your bite and your own sense of your new teeth. The first few days are about numbness wearing off and mild sensitivity to cold; the first couple of weeks are about your gums settling fully around the margins; from there, most people simply forget the treatment happened at all.

Sensitivity to cold drinks or sweet food is common in the first week, as the prepared tooth surface and the gum around it adjust to the new material. If a temporary crown or veneer was fitted while your final one was made in the lab, your dentist shows you how to care for it so it doesn't come loose before your fitting appointment.

What to expect

Veneers results and how long they last

You see the final result on Day 5, when your veneers or crowns are bonded and checked against your bite. Porcelain and e.max veneers typically last 10 to 15 years with routine care, composite veneers around 5 to 7 years, and grinding at night shortens either.

You see your new smile the day your final veneers or crowns are fitted and checked against your bite, not weeks later. The gum line around each margin keeps settling for a few more weeks, which is when any mild pink or puffy look around the edge fades and the final colour match becomes clearest against your other teeth.

Porcelain and e.max veneers typically last 10 to 15 years with normal brushing, flossing and dental check-ups; composite veneers are less durable and are usually expected to last 5 to 7 years before they need polishing or replacing. Zirconium crowns, as used in a full Hollywood Smile, tend to last as long as porcelain veneers or a little longer, since they cover the whole tooth. How long any of them last in practice still depends on your bite, how hard you clench or grind, and how consistently you keep up routine dental care at home.

Results vary from patient to patient. Your dentist will tell you what is realistic for your teeth at the consultation.

Questions

Veneers in Turkey, frequently asked questions

How much does a full set of veneers cost in Turkey?

A full-mouth Hollywood Smile package at JFS Clinic, built from 20 zirconium crowns, is listed from £2,900 (€3,300 / $3,900). This covers hotel accommodation and transfers over your stay. Veneers on fewer teeth, or porcelain, e.max or composite veneers rather than crowns, are quoted personally once your dentist has reviewed your photos.

See all package prices →
Is it a good idea to go to Turkey to get dental veneers?

Whether it is a good idea depends on the dentist and the clinic, not the country. JFS Clinic is licensed for health tourism, plans your shade and shape before you travel and sends you home with a dentist to contact if anything needs checking. Ask the same questions you would ask at home: who is preparing your teeth, what material is being used, and how a problem is handled once you are back.

Which country is the cheapest to get dental veneers?

No single country is reliably the cheapest, because prices depend on the dentist, the material and how many teeth are treated. Turkey is widely compared against the UK because labour and lab costs are lower — so the fair comparison is always quote against quote, including what each package covers.

What is the difference between veneers and Turkey teeth?

"Veneers" is a dental term for a thin shell bonded over the front of a tooth. "Turkey teeth" is a nickname that grew from cases where a full set of natural teeth was filed down for crowns rather than veneers, sometimes more aggressively than necessary. The two are not the same treatment — your dentist should tell you clearly which one is being planned for you, and why.

How soon can I get veneers in Turkey?

Most JFS patients are in Izmir for their first dental visit within about a week of their first message. You send photos of your teeth and a note on what you would like changed, your coordinator comes back with a personal plan, and your dentist confirms the exact treatment only after seeing your teeth in person.

From first message to your first visit →
Can I get veneers on the NHS?

Rarely. The NHS treats veneers as a cosmetic choice and funds them only in limited cases, such as repairing damage from an accident, decided by your dentist. For most adults wanting a change in colour or shape, NHS veneers are not funded, so people compare private options at home and abroad instead.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is getting veneers?

Preparing a tooth is done under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure rather than pain during the appointment itself. Afterwards, mild gum tenderness and sensitivity to cold are common for a few days as the area settles, similar to sensitivity after a filling. Pain relief is rarely needed beyond this, and how sensitive it feels still varies from person to person.

What's the difference between veneers and crowns?

A veneer covers only the front surface of a tooth and needs little to no enamel removed, keeping most of the natural tooth intact. A crown, like the zirconium crowns used in a Hollywood Smile package, covers the whole tooth and needs more of the natural tooth shaped down to fit underneath it. Your dentist recommends one or the other, or a mix, based on how much change each tooth needs.

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain and e.max veneers typically last 10 to 15 years with normal care, sometimes longer. Composite veneers are less durable and are usually expected to last 5 to 7 years before they need polishing or replacing. Zirconium crowns, used in a full Hollywood Smile package, tend to last as long as porcelain veneers or a little longer, since they cover the whole tooth. How long any of them last in practice also depends on your bite and whether you grind your teeth at night.

When can I fly home after getting veneers?

After your dentist's final check and bite adjustment, usually on day 5 or 6 of your trip. Avoid very hard or sticky food until any numbness or tenderness has fully settled, and keep your aftercare instructions for the flight home.

How soon will I see my final result?

You see your new smile the day your final veneers or crowns are fitted, not weeks later. The gums around the margins take a few more weeks to fully settle, and the colour match becomes clearest once any mild redness has gone. Results vary from patient to patient. Your dentist will tell you what is realistic for your teeth at the consultation.

Often considered together

Treatments often considered alongside veneers

Your dentist may suggest one of these instead of, or as well as, veneers: e.max shells for one or two front teeth, composite bonding for a single chip in one appointment, or an implant where a tooth is missing rather than discoloured. Each is planned from the same photos you send for veneers.
