Li̇posucti̇on

Liposuction is a surgical method performed to remove resilient fatty tissue that is unresponsive to diets and other weight loss methods on specific parts of the body such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, face, and to better shape the body lines. Eating habits and lifestyle are the most important factors in weight loss.

Liposuction can be risky for people with diabetes, severe heart or lung problems, and circulatory problems, or for people who have recently had surgery in the area being treated. In such cases, it is very important for your general health to let your surgeon know about your medical history.

Proper diet and exercise, as well as a regular lifestyle, are essential to get rid of excess weight. But even people who meet these conditions can have stubborn fat deposits that won't go away.
Certain areas of the body such as the abdomen, waist, hips, outer and inner thighs, and knees are areas of fat accumulation that resist diet and exercise.

People considering liposuction should not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Anyone who does not have any health problems can benefit from liposuction.

How is Liposuction Performed?

With classic liposuction, small cuts of 1-2 mm are made in the area that is too thin and resistant fats are melted using various methods. Fragmented and melted fats are removed in a vacuum process through thin cannulas or injectors.

The operation is performed under hospital conditions in the operating theater and under the supervision of an anesthetist, with a combination of local anesthesia and sedation (intravenous sleep) being preferred. Only local anesthesia can be used in very limited small areas. The process takes between 1-5 hours, depending on the condition of the areas in which the vacuum is applied.

Cannula entry holes are usually not sutured or 1-2 sutures are placed. Sometimes special thin tubes (resistors) are inserted into the areas using cannula holes to drain the serum that has built up in them. Depending on the extent of the operation, it is possible to leave the hospital on the same day or after 24 hours.

Post-operative treatment is usually pleasant. The pain is very slight and can be relieved with medication. The patient wears the corset for another 5-6 weeks. You may experience swelling, tingling, and burning sensation. These will go away on their own within 3 weeks.
